My Life

BY Mark Wilkins

I'm Mark Wilkins, a fitness professional from McAllen, Texas. I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley with my parents, Mark and CC, and my siblings Jordan, Emma, and Bryan, where I developed an early love for the outdoors, athletics, and the science behind how the body moves. That curiosity has driven everything since: an 8-year training journey, a kinesiology degree at Baylor, and a career built around helping others unlock their own potential.

Early Life & Interests

From an early age, I embraced an active lifestyle that included:

  • Outdoor pursuits like survival camping, climbing, hunting, and fishing

  • Competitive sports including golf, pole vault, and soccer

  • Self-directed learning, with a particular passion for science and how the body works

That curiosity for the why behind movement and performance has shaped everything I do today.

Fitness Journey

My transformative fitness journey began during my sophomore year of high school, when I weighed 110 pounds. Through my best friend Cayden's influence, I discovered weightlifting and it became the turning point in my life. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when gyms shut down, I got resourceful, gathering equipment and soaking up knowledge from coaches, lifters, and mentors throughout the Rio Grande Valley (956 area). What started as a personal transformation quickly grew into something bigger: a genuine obsession with the science of strength, performance, and human potential.

Professional Development

After eight years of dedicated training and a 60-pound transformation, I've built a foundation that blends real-world experience with formal education and elite industry exposure:

  • B.S. in Kinesiology at Baylor University

  • Certified Personal Trainer

  • Certified Nutritionist

  • Trained clients at Equinox, where I sharpened my coaching under one of the highest standards in the industry

  • Currently working at The Cooper Clinic in Dallas a globally recognized leader in preventive medicine and performance testing, where I get to apply clinical-grade assessment tools to real client outcomes every day

That combination of academic knowledge, hands-on coaching at a premium level, and exposure to clinical performance science has equipped me to guide others on their fitness journeys with both practical expertise and a deep scientific foundation.

Personal Approach

My passion for fitness extends beyond personal achievement it's about building genuine connections. My naturally outgoing personality and love for sharing knowledge make me more than just a trainer. I strive to be:

  • A source of both fitness expertise and interesting facts you'll actually remember

  • A reliable contact for support and guidance, in the gym and out

  • A friendly presence throughout your fitness journey, no matter where you're starting

Training Philosophy
